Let me back up a bit…
John has been in emergency response for over 30 years and I (Brandy) have been in industrial sales over 15 years, with a passion for parties. Our families blended in 2011 making us a modern day Brady Bunch with 5 children. Our family grew by one in 2013 with our bundle of joy, Jasilyn, who quickly gained the nickname “JJ.” When JJ was 3 months old, she was diagnosed with profound bilateral hearing loss. She is unable to hear without hearing aids. By medical standards, she is considered “deaf.” But, she doesn’t let it slow her down one bit!
John and I had countless conversations about our fears of Jasilyn entering the workforce. I think they are normal concerns of parents with children that have a “disability”. We both know she can do anything she sets her mind to, but as parents, we were still concerned. For years, we have discussed businesses, looked into franchise opportunities, nothing really touched our hearts. Our goal was to create an opportunity for Jasilyn. Countless conversations and researching opportunities and many disagreements later, it hit us….Jasilyn LOVES family, she LOVES to help me plan and decorate for parties and of course LOVES having FUN… a PARTY RENTAL BUSINESS!! Immediately, John and I put the wheels into motion without a second thought (of course after a conversation with Jasilyn).
We took every extra penny we had a started buying equipment. We research every piece of equipment that goes into our inventory to ensure we are purchasing top of the line. Jasilyn is involved in every purchase and she definitely gives her 2 cents!
Story time…We had a new bounce house that arrived. Jasilyn came to me with her phone about 3-4 days after arrival, she had the JJ’s website pulled up. She was scrolling through our page and asked, “why isn’t our new bouncy house on the website?” What can I say to that, lol…I will get right on it! I can still see that long skinny finger of hers flipping through our website. Hopefully I am retired before she takes over because I might get written up, lol!
Our mission is to create a legacy for our daughter. When you hear JJ’s Party Rentals, we want to ensure the first thing that pops into mind is memories, fun, family, community, clean equipment, safe equipment and friendly customer service. We want JJ’s to be around for many, many years to come.
We are most gracious of every call and text message that comes in. When you reach out to JJ’s, you are getting John or myself, ready to help you plan your next event. I am putting out invoices, John is the muscle and coordinator behind every delivery. Alongside us is Jasilyn, toting chairs and our son Joshua helping his Dad, every step of the way. With every call that comes in, we are one step closer to being able to give other people with disabilities employment. Jasilyn wants to hire “other people with hearing aids.”
